Happy Women's History Month 2022

There are so many women in literary history that we could salute. Since we just finished a study of Amanda Gorman's works, we'll spotlight her. A poet and an activist, Gorman focusses on issues of race, marginalization, oppression, and feminism. Last year, she made history as the first National Youth Poet Laureate, the youngest poet to recite poetry for a presidential inauguration, and the only poet to recite poetry at a Super Bowl. Gorman is a Harvard grad from LA, where she now lives, and she has a twin sister. Here's saluting Gorman and all women who have made and those who continue to make a difference in our world for others.

Happy almost Spring! We missed blogging during the entire month of February because we have been super busy behind the scenes working on a number of projects. We led two Black History Literacy Events that focused on the poetry of the Inaugural Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman for families and students, as well as staff and students, in Williamsburg County Schools in South Carolina. We are also hosting a poetry writing contest that all Williamsburg Co. students are eligible to participate in.
